Waster treatment often requires a preliminary structuration phase before further processing. Quicklime and sawdust are regularly used for this purpose.
Quicklime is well-known for its efficiency in terms of drying and hygienisation capacity. Mixing of quicklime is quite often difficult to manage because of a too rapid reactivity of the lime and irregular mixing which leads to heterogeneous lime concentrations and temperatures.
CODECAL® optimises the performances of standard quicklime, by :
- enabling sufficient time for a homogeneous mixing before an important viscosity of the mixture,
- liberating a maximum hydration capacity after mixing, during storage with an optimum efficiency in terms of drying and hygienisation,
- enabling to introduce quicklime as a liquid with a minimum amount of water in case of treatment of high viscous products.
Advantages of a homogeneous mixture are multiple :
- reduction of reagents used at equal efficiency,
- suppression of non treated areas which are usually the origin of bad odours and hygienisation problems at storage,
- suppression of overtreated areas with associated problems due to too high temperature increase with risk of self-ignition and/or emission of volatile pollutants.
The delay in reactivity of the quicklime avoids premature hydration before mixing with as consequence :
- reduction of dust emissions, in particular hydration dust,
- suppression of projections due to violent reactions,
- more secure workspace.
